Best Walk Types for Dogs in Cold Climates
14. mars 2024

When it’s below zero, try these cold-friendly walks:
Short but frequent: Instead of one long trek, split walks into three or four 10-minute bursts.
Forest and sheltered parks: Trees block wind and deep snow is gentler on paws.
Urban routes with cleared paths: Use downtown routes that are salted and ploughed, but rinse paws after.
Play in the yard: Toss a ball or treat right at home—great when roads are icy.
‘Sniffari’ walks: Let your dog guide you at nose-level pace—even a short sniff session is mentally enriching.
Always watch for signs of frostbite or cold. Scandinavian dogs are tough, but every pet has limits.
