HARA: The Moroccan Desert Dog Who Found a Family in the UK

6. nov. 2025

One day, outside an oasis town at the edge of the Sahara, two British cyclists noticed a small, scruffy dog running after them. They named her Hara (‘freedom’ in Arabic). For 100 kilometers, Hara followed, chasing adventure, companionship, and a second chance.

Locals waved, truck drivers slowed, and Hara kept pace for days. At night, she curled up beside the cyclists’ tents, sharing shade and laughter.

Eventually, Hara made headlines back in the UK. With help from rescue groups, she flew north—and now naps by a bright window, rain drumming on the glass, in a loving home.

Hara’s story reminds us: whether in Arctic snow or Moroccan sand, the bonds between people and pets are borderless and sometimes, the best journeys start with a single wag.
